Agioi Theodoroi – Lazaretta – 4.5 hours

** 3 STOPS FOR SWIMMING **

With a direction to the west from the old port of Chania we find AgioiTheodoroi. An Island connected with mythology and the Venetian occupation. Nowadays, this island is a nature reserve. It has been recognized as an important bird area by BirdLife International because they support a breeding population of 50 – 65 pairs of Eleonora’s falcons. Also, it is heaven for kri-kri goats, an elegant Cretan goat, which is an endangered species. We drop anchor close to a German airplane wreck (Junkers Ju 52) dated from WW2. There, we stay for approximately 40 mins to enjoy swimming and snorkeling in the crystal clear waters.
Our next stop is Lazaretta or lazaretto island. A small island opposite Nea Chora. The clear waters and the rich Marine life combined with two beautiful sandy beaches make this island the best place to end our trip. Lazaretta’s history is connected to the old port of Chania and the Venetian occupation, as well.
We stay there for 1,5 hours.
